House of Mexica is always the best. You can never go wrong with a dish. My favorite used to be the Al pastor nachos, but we frequently get the burritos, and have tried the burger, fries, and torta as well. Most recently I finally tried the Mexica bowl, with Al pastor of course, and it is my new favorite. I'm not even being dramatic when I say it's one of the best things I've ever eaten. The two workers we always see there are the sweetest, and the woman always remembers us which is appreciated. Knowing the owner is a kind thoughtful woman just makes sense with how much love is put into this delicious food. Everything is made in house which is an incredible feat as is, but the flavor is spot on and delicious for every item. I wish our dishes always had more protein/fake meat, but there is never a lack of flavor when we order here. She asks no modifications to the artwork (food), but lately we've been able to order extra meat to fix the only downside. I would trade the world to have this al pastor in my fridge for daily eating. This is one of our favorite places in Reno hands down. It is extremely rare to get comfort food and a dash of health at the same time, and that has been achieved here. Even those who aren't vegan or vegetarian have loved it here when I've brought them! There is nothing quite like it. This place holds a very special place in my heart.

Didn't realize this was a vegan restaurant until I arrived, but ordered and loved the al pastor burrito anyway! I've been back specifically for this burrito and will definitely bring friends here when they come to visit. Also love the variety of Folk kombucha on tap!

This vegan spot is incredible! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and check on in a very consistent but not overwhelming manner. The ambiance was so calming, with a quiet atmosphere that made it easy to relax, especially since loud environments can be overwhelming for me. The lighting was also pleasantly soft, adding to the comfort. I tried the mushroom walnut nachos, and you'd never guess there was no meat--they were absolutely delicious. Whether you're vegan or not, don't overlook this place!

Went again this weekend. My wife got the sopes. Just wanted to say the owner is great, very friendly and nice. Tried the smoothies this time and those were great as well! Got to sit outside today and it was nice!

I can not stop thinking about my lunch! I got the al pastor diosas/gorditas, and the pineapple combined with their hot sauce had an amazing flavor profile. I really liked the crispness of the shell. The rice and beans were pretty simple & straight forward. The prices are a bit on the steeper side, but the quality is top notch and worth every penny. I saw some people on here lament about portion sizes, but I'll say my meal was very reasonable. I'm a big eater, so I ate every bite, but I still left comfortably full and happy. The restaurant is tidy and clean with a family owned/mom and pop shop vibe. They were very attentive and any tiny hiccups were fixed quickly (such as forgetting guacamole). I can't wait to try more things from the menu!

Stopped in based on a vegan family member's recommendation. It's located in a small shopping center and inside is quaint n cozy. As for the food, we had the asada nachos. Also the tasty fries and a slice of cheesecake. They were pretty great . Fresh ingredients and crunchy chips. Fries were interestingly seasoned and yummy. Creamy cheesecake was delightful. Staff were friendly and helpful with menu selections. Plenty of parking too. I recommend any of their vegan dishes.

I had some time to kill before an appointment today and randomly popped into House of Mexica for lunch. I was greeted right away Which is always a good start. I went with the Tacos. They delivered four mushroom walnut meat tacos that were filled with a mushroom walnut base topped with onion, and cilantro. Wow! The flavor combo was rich and savory. Honestly you'd never guess it was plant based. Everything just melted together perfectly. The whole menu is plant based which is cool in itself. They offer you a choice between cactus, soy- pineapple, or the mushroom walnut base. Super delicious and surprisingly filling! The vibe in there is chill. It's very plant focused with greenery everywhere and a little fountain to make the space feel peaceful. Whether you're plant based or not, this place is a unique spot worth checking out!
